The coming months will see the launching of Bridal collection and menÂ?s wear line in their very own city of Kolkata. While talking about his city, Nil mentioned Â?The city is more of a shopping destination than fashion destinationÂ?. He explained Â?the city has its own sense of style which is unique in its own way. The concept of Â?kandhe jholaa bagÂ? in fashion has been picked up from this city.Â? When asked to name their favorite designer, Â?Anamika Khanna and Sabysanchi MukherjeeÂ? pronto came the reply. Their creations mainly portray fusion of traditional Indian craftsmanship and textiles with modern western silhouettes. The latest achievement under their fashionable belt has been the well received fashion show at RAFW. Picked up by Lakme and IMG- the globally connected team behind RAFW, Dev and Nil were among the 100 designers to show case at the Australian fashion week starting from April 30 to May 4.

The models at the RAFW displayed light cottons, linen cottons, soft georgettes and chiffons by the designers. Intention was to deliver a different line of clothing which is comfortable yet fashionable. The silhouettes chosen for this collection were very relaxed and colours used were very soft and soothing. The show flaunted tunics and evening gowns, some done with traditional block printing techniques to create textures and some depicting the influences of indigenous developed textiles like metallic yarns woven with silk. Their innovation in textiles, surface texturing and cuts has been appreciated by both national and international buyers. The latest show up at the Lakme Fashion week established them as one of the brilliant designers of India. The designer duo came together in the year 2004 to start off with their label. While Dev studied at the National Institute of Fshion Design, Kolkata Nil studied fashion at Canberra Institute of Technology in Australia.
