Indoor heating and the cold outdoors can wreck havac on our hair, the main issue being dryness, to combat this and keep your hair in tip-top condition take note of the following winter tips:

Moistrize your scalp:

Winter often causes dry flaky scalps. Olive oil or sweet almond oil are perfect oils to use on the scalp.

Feed your hair from within:

A healthy balanced diet = healthy hair
Beware of woolen hats: Hats made from wool can seriously remove moisture from your hair if you plan to wear a woollen hat for several hours wear a silk or satin scarf underneath it, don’t tie to tight though as you will restrict scalp circulation.
Central heating: Central heating can cause your hair to be dryer especially the ends, regulary have a feel for dryness and oil as necessary.

Kelly's Personal Tip!

I tend to trim my hair every time I wash it which is about once a month, my hair type is light in feel and very thick in texture, since using Top Bass I don’t suffer with dry scalp as much. When I wash my hair (with Herbal Essence) I try not to blow it out, so I plait my hair in 6/8 sections and allow it to dry naturally. I really love herbal Essence, I have never really tried a specific afro shampoo, like the ones mentioned above. I have stopped using grease in my hair and have opted for Avocado and Rosemary Oil, which gives my hair enough moisture and smells lovely. I don’t actually comb my hair a lot, because I wear hairstyles for a month at a time, however I do own a wide tooth comb :-)
